Modern data warehouse and Power BI as the foundation for managing transportation costs
Project description
The goal of the project was to create a comprehensive report for analyzing transportation costs and to establish the right processes for introducing Business Intelligence (BI) at BEST. A key part of the work was building a central data model that follows modern modeling principles, ensures data security, and enables consistent use of data across the company.

We began by analyzing the supplied data. We gradually restructured and optimized it to align with BI principles and support long-term development of the data model. We created a central model that provides a unified foundation for metrics and visualizations and can be expanded with new data sources and logic.
We began by analyzing the supplied data. We gradually restructured and optimized it to align with BI principles and support long-term development of the data model. We created a central model that provides a unified foundation for metrics and visualizations and can be expanded with new data sources and logic.
We also focused on user friendliness. We designed the Power BI visualizations to be intuitive, easy to read, and tailored to different user roles. Users can quickly switch between an overview and a detailed analysis of specific orders or carriers.
An important part of the project was sharing know-how. We established the core principles of data modeling and BI processes so the BEST team can manage and expand the model independently in the future. This resulted not only in functional reporting but also in internal capabilities for further BI development within the company.
The follow-up collaboration focused on the sales area, which is now successfully implemented. The data model for manufacturing is already prepared, and the manufacturing reporting for BEST will be made available to users soon.
Satisfied Client

“Logistics was our first Power BI reporting project at BEST. Thanks to our collaboration with intecs, we managed to set up a solid foundation for the data model, which we are gradually expanding into other areas. What I value most about intecs is their strong willingness to share know-how. Today, we handle most of the development in-house. We turn to intecs for consultations as experienced professionals whenever we need to make important decisions or validate our solution. We are very pleased with how this collaboration works — we learn a lot while developing on our own, and whenever we are unsure about the right direction, intecs reliably guides us onto the right path.”
