Real-Time Production and Sales Reporting for a Global Cycling Apparel Manufacturer 

Project Objective

For Kalas Sportswear, a Czech company with global reach that manufactures and distributes cycling apparel worldwide, we created a reporting solution in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric that connects data from sales, production, and inventory. The goal was to unify key company data in one environment and provide management, sales teams, and production with an up-to-date and reliable view of company performance across markets, customers, orders, and production processes.

During the transition from a local ERP system to a cloud solution, the existing Power BI reporting at Kalas stopped working. The underlying data source changed so significantly that the original reports could not simply be adjusted; they had to be rebuilt from scratch.

The native reporting of the cloud ERP was not sufficient. It was too simple, unclear, and inadequate for production management. Kalas therefore needed a new reporting solution that would provide a reliable overview of production capacity, order deadlines, and the processes on which the entire operation depends. 

We designed and built a unified data platform in Microsoft Fabric that draws data from both systems, the original and the new ERP, and processes it into two separate analytical models for production and sales. Production reports cover three main departments, cutting, sublimation, and sewing, each with its own overview of production capacity, KPIs, and order status. Sales reports provide an overview of results across different countries and currencies. The entire solution is built on Direct Lake technology, which provides access to data in near real time, with data updated several times a day, not just once.

Kalas now has 11 reports available, covering the entire production and sales operation and generating more than 2,000 views per month. The overview of production capacity and order deadlines is updated several times a day, so the customer can respond to changes in real time and plan production effectively, even for individually customised orders. Sales data is available globally across six continents in a unified overview with support for different currencies and countries.
