Project goal

In collaboration with the internal Data Analytics team at Dr. Max, we are working on a project focused on comprehensive analytical coverage of the (post-)order process in online business. The goal is to improve internal processes and ensure key metrics that are fully comparable across the entire group.

Dr. Max Group, one of the largest and fastest-growing pharmacy chains in Europe, is investing in technological development through a new Business & Data Center in Prague. At intecs, we are a key partner in this growth – we design and deliver a data platform that ensures data integration, reporting, and support for strategic decision-making across six countries. Our solution forms a solid foundation for data-driven growth and digital transformation of the entire group.

The goal of the collaboration with Dr. Max was to streamline these processes by building a modern data warehouse (DWH) and developing Power BI reports.

We focused primarily on processing online order data from the Dr. Max e-shop with more than 30,000 products. The objective was to cover the entire order lifecycle with a strong focus on the supply chain, which is critical from a customer perspective. Dr. Max aims to connect in-store and online shopping and offer customers a seamless and unified way to take care of their health. The company emphasizes innovation and customer-centric solutions and continuously adapts to changing healthcare needs.

To efficiently process online order data and develop reporting, building the data warehouse from scratch was essential. This project allowed us to design a custom DWH tailored to e-commerce processes and the client’s specific requirements.

The new data warehouse processes the complete flow of order information, where each order generates a dataset that is updated with every status change – from order creation, warehouse assignment, and packaging to shipment and delivery. Regular tracking of these changes enables detailed analysis of the entire process and precise monitoring of the order journey to the end customer.

Thanks to the data warehouse, we now map the entire order process in detail – from creation to delivery. Every step is carefully monitored, allowing us to quickly identify delays or issues and resolve them effectively.

The newly implemented monitoring of canceled orders provides insight into issues related to payment, warehouse processing, or customer non-collection. This data helps identify recurring problems and implement preventive measures to improve the overall process and customer satisfaction.

We also implemented visualizations of logistics processes, tracking the entire delivery chain – who delivers the orders, how quickly they deliver to different locations, and where shipments are dispatched from.
